WISSAHICKON HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL DEPARTMENT

ENSEMBLES

Currently there is one curricular* and seven extra-curricular ensembles in rehearsal. The following is a list of our ensembles with a brief discription for each.

CONCERT CHORUS* The Concert Chorus is a non-audition, curricular performance ensemble practicing high-school level choral literature. This 150-member choir can be heard bi-annually at the WHS CHORAL CONCERT, accompanied by the fabulous Miss Katy Stanislavskya.

CAMERATA Camerata (Italian for "friends" or camaraderie) is a 32-member auditioned choir practicing more challenging a cappella choral literature. The Camerata performs about thirty times each semester throughout the community, including assisted-living communities, local events, City Hall in Philadelphia and many other assorted venues. If you are interested in having the Camerata perform, please contact the Director here.

CHAMBER SINGERS Chamber Singers is an octet, practicing both traditional madrigals and contemporary literature. This group is also known for performing the National Anthem at many of the High School's sporting and co-curricular events.

BARBERSHOP Our Barbershop Quartet was founded in 2000. This foursome practices traditional and contemporary barbershop literature in flashy performance garb.

BARBIESHOP In compliment to our Barbershop Quartet, WHS also have a Bar-BIE-shop Quartet. This female foursome was founded in 2002, practicing traditional Sweet Adelines literature and contemporary arrangements. They also have cool outfits.

WOMEN'S CHOIR Our Women's Choir is a non-auditioned performance group open to any female singers. The group meets on Friday mornings from 6:55am - 7:30am and practices traditional and contemporary women's choral literature.

MEN'S CHOIR Men's Choir is a non-auditioned group, open to all male singers. The group meets on Tuesday mornings from 6:55am - 7:30am and practices traditional and contemporary men's choral literature.

SPRING MUSICAL Annually, we produce a Broadway Musical. Auditions occur in November and are open to all WHS students. The production goes up in the following March. The past four productions have been THE MIKADO, LES MISERABLES, TITANIC & JOSEPH and the AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.
