Club Credit

 

To receive credit as a member of Horticulture Club to go on your transcript, you must participate in TEN hours of activities.(after-school activity is one hour credit. Saturday and field trip activities are three hours credit) attend half the meetings and participate in the fundraiser.

The cut-off date to join the club is January2, 2007.

 

Club Purpose and Objectives

 

  1. To support community effort in Horticulture/Environmental activities.
  2. To contribute to the beautification of the school campus by planting and maintaining gardens in school courtyards.
  3. To educate students and community members about environmental issues.
  4. To represent Wissahickon High School in a positive manner in all our projects.

                                                                 Club Officers

 

President –                  Oversee meetings, general coordinator, contact committee chair people.

 

Vice President-           Help run meetings.

 

Treasurer -                  Takes care of financial business and monthly reports.

 

Secretary -                  Keeps records of members, their activities, attendance at meetings and members’ participation in fundraising. Good computer skills a must.

 

Publicity -                    Responsible for written announcements for morning, flyers, posters, set up for Activities Fair

 

Fundraiser -                Organize and maintain records for all fundraisers

 

Committees

 

WVWA -                      Wissahickon Valley Watershed – Walk in October, stream clean-up, Serve the Preserve. Other activities that may need our assistance.

 

Prophecy Creek -        Removal of vegetation close to streams and pond, weeding flower beds, spreading mulch.

 

Plant Ambler -             Planting flowers in the barrels on bridge – fall, spring, and June. Transplanting seedlings to be used in planters and beds in Ambler.

 

Court yards -               Planting bulbs, shrubs and flowers. Spreading mulch. Designing gardens. Maintaining gardens such as weeding, pruning and watering.
