SUBJECT: MINI-GRANT
PROCESS AND APPLICATION
In furtherance of its mission
to enhance the educational experience of WHS students and support our teachers
and staff in their efforts to promote creative projects and encourage
innovative teaching methods, the WHS Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) announces the
launch of its mini-grant program. The objective
of this new program is to provide “extra” dollars to Wissahickon High School (WHS)
personnel for projects that complement the current curriculum and directly
benefit WHS students. With this program
we seek to provide teachers, counselors, coaches and class/activity sponsors
with grants for classroom and co-curricular use which:
·
Promote creative
and engaging teaching methods
·
Provide
remediation or enrichment
·
Enhance subjects
in the curriculum guide or introduce new, related subjects
·
Promote the
socialization and self-esteem of students
·
Aid in classroom
or co-curricular management
If
additional books, software, equipment, games, periodicals or prizes would
assist you in achieving the above goals, a mini-grant may be exactly what you
need.
A mini-grant may be
requested for up to $250. Funding over
and above $250 may be considered on a case by case basis.
To be considered for a
mini-grant, please complete the attached application and submit it to Kathy
Bastian at kbastian2@aol.com by October
31, 2007. If you prefer, you may drop
your handwritten application in the PTC mailbox in the main office.
The Mini-Grant Committee of
the PTC will review all applications.
The committee then will recommend whether to amend, partially fund, or
fully fund your proposal. It is our intention to have all decisions made by
November 9, 2007, with grant funds distributed to the recipients shortly
thereafter. Unless otherwise approved, all grants are expected to be utilized
during and for the 2007-2008 school year.
If you have any questions
regarding the mini-grant program or application process, please contact Kathy
Bastian at 215.264.9518 or at the above email address.
We hope that you will find
this program to be a valuable asset . We
look forward to receiving your application.
