Welcome back to Wissahickon High School! The Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) is looking forward to its most productive and enriching year ever! This year, some 20 new faculty members and newly acquired computer technologies will greet students, teachers and administrators, promising an era of academic progress, communication and participation! As it is our primary goal to enhance the opportunities at WHS, we are aligning our 2007-08 agenda with these objectives. Our plans include a mini-grants program to support departments, a comprehensive printed and electronic newsletter, an informative e-mail and Web communication system, the creation and sale of commemorative WHS keepsakes and much more! To accomplish all this, we need your support.

First, we ask that you attend PTC meetings (see dates and times on back of this letter), where you will learn what is really happening at the high school from administrators, parents and students. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our many programs of the year (please indicate areas that interest you on the form below). Finally, we ask that you pledge your financial support by joining the organization. Dues this year remain $10.00 per family and are our major source of income. They fund both one-time projects that enhance the students’ academic and social experience, such as the purchase of art equipment and dining tables and chairs; and ongoing programs that acknowledge and encourage both student and faculty work, such as:

Ø      The Renaissance Program that features Staff and Student of the Month awards

Ø      “Back to the Kids” events that provide students with small treats throughout the year

Ø      Staff Spirit events and the Staff Appreciation Luncheon that applaud faculty and staff efforts

Ø      The Student Directory that circulates WHS family names, addresses and phone numbers

Ø      Two $750 scholarships awarded at graduation that assist deserving senior students

The PTC does great things for our students and faculty only because of YOU!  We need your time, talent and financial support. Please join us so that together we can build a stronger WHS future! Start by attending our first meetings of the year at the following date and times:

·                  9ith Grade Parents – New Parent Coffee, Thurs., Sept, 20, 8 a.m., Upper Cafeteria

·                  All Parents – First 2007-08 Meeting, Thurs., Sept. 20, 9:15 a.m., Upper Cafeteria

Please fill out the slip below and send it in with your dues in the self-addressed envelope provided. If you’re unable to join a committee, please consider making an additional donation to the PTC. WEOF (Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation) is also a great supporter of our programs; please consider a donation to them as well. A WEOF gift can be included in your dues; please mark your check accordingly (see WEOF flyer enclosed). Finally, please participate in our Parking Space Raffle (see form enclosed) that helps fund our senior activities!

Thank you for your support. We look forward to a productive, rewarding and enjoyable year!
