District Artist of the Month: Lila Greb

Congratulations to the January District Artist of the Month, Blue Bell 5th grader, Lila Greb. While studying Mexican and Central American art, Lila and her classmates sketched and colored sugar skulls or calaveras, a traditional symbol of the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. They also made skulls with clay. Lila said the artwork was challenging because it had to be symmetrical. To help with this, students created half of the skull, then folded their paper and traced the other half over a bright light.

Kindergarten Registration Begins January 2025

Registration for incoming kindergarteners for the 2025-2026 school year begins in January! Children who will be age 5 on or before September 1, 2025, are eligible to enter kindergarten. WHS and BBE Pen Pals Connect

Mrs. Reckeweg’s 9th grade students and Mrs. Neft’s 4th grade students are making connections! The students have been writing letters to each other as part of a Pen Pal Program started last year. In December and May, the students get to visit each other's school. Check out the high school class visiting BBE. You can see the great bond between them!

Congrats Tim Smyth, Wiss Nation Hero

Congratulations to the 2024 Wiss Nation Hero, Tim Smyth, WHS Social Studies Teacher. Mr. Smyth was recognized at the 12/9 School Board Meeting by superintendent, Dr. Crisfield, for being a superhero who keeps students engaged and his classroom “alive with his energetic, novel, non-traditional approach to teaching history using comics and graphic novels.” Mr. Smyth was also credited with “inspiring colleagues and educators across the globe.”
