Course Selection
Each school year offers a fresh opportunity to chart a course to career, college and life success. We want each student to graduate – on time – with identified plans for their future. Your high school experiences can help you discover your interests and learn how you learn best. We have so many options for you to explore career paths, earn college credits and gain real-world skills while you fulfill high school graduation requirements.
The course selection process for all students begins at the start of the second semester. Student selection of courses in all subject areas must be made for both semesters of the next year. All students should carefully plan their entire program for the year with assistance and guidance from parents/guardians, teachers and counselors.
We’re here to help. Take time to consider and plan. Review course options. Weigh what challenges and interests you. Consider your path for the future. Engage with teachers and staff who are here to consult with you and support you as you make your choices!
Course Selection Process and Program of Studies 2026-2027
The Program of Studies outlines all course offerings and provides descriptions of each course. We ask parents and students to review this document and all of its important information as they begin the process of selecting courses for 2026-27. For current 8th graders, Wissahickon High School will host our annual Program of Studies Jr. event on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 6:00–7:15 PM in the WHS Audion.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, we will host a virtual Program of Studies Night from 7:00-8:00pm for all 8th – 11th grade parents and any students interested in learning more about the WHS course selection process. This session will begin with a virtual presentation by WHS counselors and administrators followed by break-out groups with teachers from the various departments. The purpose of this event is to learn more about the course offerings for the 2026-27 school year. Please note this evening is not intended for specific questions about your student. Those questions should be reserved for another time and a more private discussion with your student's counselor.
