What can we help you find?

Course Selection

Each school year offers a fresh opportunity to chart a course to career, college and life success. We want each student to graduate – on time – with identified plans for their future. Your high school experiences can help you discover your interests and learn how you learn best. We have so many options for you to explore career paths, earn college credits and gain real-world skills while you fulfill high school graduation requirements.

The course selection process for all students begins at the start of the second semester. Student selection of courses in all subject areas must be made for both semesters of the next year. All students should carefully plan their entire program for the year with assistance and guidance from parents/guardians, teachers and counselors.

We’re here to help. Take time to consider and plan. Review course options. Weigh what challenges and interests you. Consider your path for the future. Engage with teachers and staff who are here to consult with you and support you as you make your choices!

Course Selection Process and Program of Studies 2025-2026

The Program of Studies outlines all course offerings and provides descriptions of each course.  We ask parents and students to review this document and all of its important information as they begin the process of selecting courses for 2025-26. Click the button below to view the Program of Studies and the grade-level course selection sheets and instructions.

Program of Studies

On Thursday, January 9, 2025, we will host a virtual Program of Studies Night from 7:00-8:00pm for all 8th – 11th grade parents and any students interested in learning more about the WHS course selection process.  This session will begin with a virtual presentation by WHS counselors and administrators followed by break-out groups with teachers from the various departments. The purpose of this event is to learn more about the course offerings for the 2025-26 school year.  Please note that this evening is not intended for you to ask specific questions about your student.  Those questions should be reserved for another time and a more private discussion.  All 8th-11th grade students and parents are welcome to participate virtually and it will prove to be a valuable event where lots of questions related to course selection and the WHS course selection process will be answered.

Spotlight on Senior Internships

Take a look at WHS seniors from the Class of 2023, Alyssa W. who interned at Steinbach Veterinary Hospital, and Bella R. who interned at Centre Square Fire Company. The Senior Internship Program has been a part of Wissahickon High School for decades, allowing twelth-grade students to participate in half day internships to earn academic credit in an occupation field of their choosing for a semester or the entire school year. Mrs. Inderbitzin shared that "this experience helps seniors determine if their career path is the right fit for them while walking away with a greater appreciation for what it means to be a professional employee." Thirty-five students interned at local organizations or within WSD.
