Our School

Welcome to Wissahickon High School - home of the Trojans. Our school serves approximately 1,350 students in grades 9 to 12. WHS is an empowering academic community where all students are challenged to grow, learn, prosper, and realize their full personal, social, and intellectual potential, and to develop the life skills necessary to become respectful, responsible, and productive citizens of the global community.

WHS Among Top High Schools in the Nation & State

In 2025-2026, U.S. News and World Report ranked Wissahickon High School in the top 4% of best high schools in the nation, 3rd highest in Montgomery County, and 21st in Pennsylvania (or 17th when excluding special admission schools).  In 2016-2017, Wissahickon High School was selected as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

Fun Facts about WHS

As part of graduation festivities, seniors travel by bus to the elementary school they attended for a Victory Lap around the school.

Did you know there are more than 290 extracurricular leadership positions at WHS and 86% of our students participate in athletics or a club?

At the end of each school year, all students participate in Wissapick'em - a day where they can choose from dozens of great activities like escape rooms, minute-to-win it, scavenger hunts and Jeopardy.

WHS Student Activites

School-Wide Positive Behavior Exceptations

Our teachers and staff believe that an orderly school climate is necessary to ensure that students are afforded the best opportunities to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Good behavior is important to the educational process not only in the classroom, but also in the cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms and buses, during assemblies, and on field trips. The WHS staff has developed a School-Wide Positive Behavior Support program to teach our students positive behaviors. Our school-wide expectations are integrated within the theme of PROUD (Perseverance, Respect, Ownership, Unity, and Dignity). All students will learn these expectations and the guidelines for their application in all school settings. Students are recognized for positive behavior with both verbal and tangible reinforcements.
