2024 Hall of Fame Inductees

On October 18, 2024, Wiss Nation was pleased to recognize and honor 8 alumni at an induction ceremony for the 2024 WHS Hall of Fame. Family, friends and community members are invited to read the bios and watch the short videos below to learn more about the achievements of these outstanding alumni. 

Eric EyreEric Eyre '83

Eric Eyre, a long-time journalist in West Virginia, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Investigative Reporting in 2017 for stories on the opioid crisis. He is the author of Death in Mud Lick:  A Coal Country Fight Against the Drug Companies That Delivered the Opioid Epidemic. He was recognized “for courageous reporting, performed in the face of powerful opposition, to expose the flood of opioids flowing into depressed West Virginia counties with the highest overdose death rates in the country.”

Eyre previously worked as a reporter for the Charleston Gazette-Mail for 22 years, covering state government, health, business and education, and his award-winning investigative stories have mostly spotlighted issues in rural West Virginia communities. His tenacious reporting exposed Big Pharma and led to changes in the law and landmark settlements in West Virginia and across the United States.

Eyre’s other national awards include the Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) Medal, Fred M. Hechinger Grand Prize in Education Reporting from Education Writers Association, National Headliners Award, Society of American Business Editors and Writers award, Gerald Loeb Award for business writing, and an Association of Health Care Journalists award. He also was the recipient of a Kaiser Family Foundation fellowship. Eyre graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans and received a master's degree from the University of South Florida at St. Petersburg while on a Poynter Fund Fellowship.

Greg Harth Gregory Harth '91

Gregory Harth is the President and Chief Visionary Officer of Harth Builders, a family-owned Design-Build Remodeling firm based in Montgomery County with over 28 years of experience serving the Greater Philadelphia region. Greg graduated from Wissahickon High School in 1991 then went on to earn his B.S in Civil Engineering at the University of Delaware in 1996. Shortly thereafter he moved west to Colorado and entered the heavy civil construction industry. His engineering career began with performing materials engineering tests on soils, concrete, and asphalt. He then joined Peter Kiewit Sons’ as a Project Engineer where he worked on a number of high-level construction-focused engineering projects - including the development and submittal of a successful $1.2B proposal on I-25 reconstruction and light rail addition in Denver (T-Rex).

In 2003, Greg returned home to join Harth Builders as a partner alongside his father, Allyn Harth, who founded the company. Greg officially took over ownership of the company in 2008. Over the course of twenty years, Greg increased Harth’s company revenue to $20MM+ and 15% annually while maintaining net profitability. Under Greg’s leadership, Harth has won over 50 local, regional, and national CotY awards for various projects, three National Chrysalis awards, the Philadelphia Business Journal’s prestigious “50 on Fire” and “Soaring 76” awards, and more.

Greg has also served on numerous boards throughout his career, previously serving as the President/Chairman of the Board for the Bucks-Mont National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI), and as a past President/Chairman of Lower Gwynedd Business Association (LGBA). He holds Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) and Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) certifications by NARI in remodeling and is also an Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS).

Ashlee Harrison GoodeAshlee Harrison Goode '00

Ashlee (Harrison) Goode boasts extensive contributions to the game of basketball. She is a NCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Official and NCAA Division 3 Coordinator - the first minority woman to hold this position in the Northeast Region for the NCAA. She is 1 of 5 American FIBA Certified International 3x3 officials, traveling the globe to officiate professional basketball and world cups.

Additionally, she and her husband founded and operate Student of the Game Officiating (SOTG), a leading basketball official training organization, serving FIBA, USA Basketball, Adidas, and Under Armour and RED Bull 3X3.

In addition to providing high quality officiating, SOTG’s training and certification classes promote the welfare of the game of basketball, encouraging the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, and prioritizes the safety of the players, coaches and spectators. In 2019, Goode was invited to the White House to be a part of the Sports Council and discuss how SOTG has been addressing the public health crisis of aggressive climates in sports in the US.

She has also served our local community coaching basketball: WHS Head JV, Varsity assistant, 2004-2009 and Head Varsity coach at Norristown High School, 2009-2014 . As a former varsity basketball player at WHS, Goode is one of the few female players to score over 1,000 points in her high school career.

Robert Kreamer Robert Kreamer '75

Robert (Bob) Kreamer is the Chief Executive Officer of the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club, a position he has held for 35 years. The club has served 3,500 children and youth in our local communities through various recreational and academic programs. Throughout his tenure at the club, Kreamer worked with Souderton officials to open the Indian Valley Boys & Girls Club in 2005. In 2024, Kreamer’s dream of expanding the Boys & Girls Club in the Ambler area became a reality with the grand opening of the Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club.

Kreamer has had a tremendous impact during his time at the Boys & Girls Club. When he joined the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club in 1988, the organization served 300 members. Under his guidance, the club underwent several major renovations and expansion projects, allowing membership to grow to 1,300 members. With the opening of the Indian Valley Club in Souderton, the club was able to serve 2,000 children and youth in its first year of operation.

Along with operating a successful and impactful nonprofit organization, Kreamer spent a number of years coaching sports in a variety of different settings. Between the years of 1984 and 1999, he coached high school football at both Springfield and Wissahickon. In 1994, Wissahickon won the Suburban One Freedom Division Championship title under his direction as the defensive coordinator.

Kreamer has received numerous awards and honors throughout the course of his career, including the Paul Harris Fellow Award presented by Rotary International, the Jaycees Outstanding Community Leader Award, the General Nash Community Award of Merit by the Cradle of Liberty Boys Scouts Council, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Montgomery County Making A Difference Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Borough of Lansdale for three decades of making a difference to the generations of children and families across the Lansdale community.

Nicole MarquisNicole Marquis '00

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, a graduate of Temple University, followed by studies at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, Nicole Marquis is part of the wave of health-conscious educated professionals that exemplify the Philadelphia restaurant renaissance. In  2012, Marquis founded Marquis & Co. and opened her first restaurant, HipCityVeg Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, as a way to bring delicious vegan food to the world by presenting it in a form that people already loved. A Best of Philadelphia award-winning destination since its first months of operation, HipCityVeg offers a cuisine of fresh, bold flavors in a novel, yet familiar form. Its fast food-inspired, 100 percent plant-based menu of burgers and fries, salads and wraps, healthy drinks, and desserts points to a new way of eating and healthy living. The mission of HipCityVeg is to make delicious plant-based food convenient and available to people everywhere.

A second Philadelphia HipCityVeg opened on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 2013, followed by locations in the North American Building on Broad Street and in Ardmore. The brand’s national expansion began with the opening of the first Washington, D.C. HipCityVeg in June 2016.

Marquis also created two full-service plant-based restaurants, the cocktail lounge and tapas restaurant Charlie was a sinner, and Bar Bombón, a Latin-inspired restaurant reminiscent of Old San Juan. She has been the subject of numerous print and television segments, and is a sought-after speaker, addressing audiences on the topics of entrepreneurialism, sustainability, food ethics and compassion for living things.

Rian ReedRian Reed '05

Rian Nichole Reed is an Author, Speaker, educator, leader and advocate for equitable education practices. Ms. Reed is currently an Instructional Coach within the District of Columbia Public Schools in Washington, DC and an Equity-Centered Principal Iinititive studying Educational Leadership and Administration at George Washington University.  

Throughout her career, Ms. Reed has demonstrated exceptional community engagement, program development, and teacher empowerment skills. She says her greatest reward is seeing teachers embrace culturally responsive teaching practices, challenge systemic inequities, and become advocates for their students.

Her successful endeavors include securing the 2022 The National Alliance of Black School Educators National Demonstration School Award. Through various partnerships such as The Mission Continues, she helped establish the Elevate Academy to promote student growth and college readiness in STEM fields through the School-Wide Enrichment Model. 

Ms. Reed is a sought-after speaker and presenter, sharing her expertise and insights on various educational topics. She has been invited to speak at prestigious institutions and events, such as the Harvard University Graduate School of Education's African American Alumni Conference, where she presented on culturally responsive teaching practices. 

Additionally, she has been featured as a guest speaker on podcasts such as "The I AM Dr. Sharon Show: Education First Series". Her work has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, The Georgetown Voice, The Atlantic, and many more. She is also a co-author of the 2018 Snapshot in Education, where she wrote about recruitment and retention strategies for school systems seeking to increase teacher diversity.  

In the community, Ms. Reed serves on several boards, volunteering her time for political and systemic impact. She is currently serving her 3rd appointed term as the Vice-Chair of the Education Advisory Committee for the City of Laurel, Maryland.

Ms. Reed’s dedication to educational equity and her passion for empowering educators and students make her an invaluable asset to any educational organization.

Daniel RoncaDaniel Ronca '79

Daniel G. Ronca was elected to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in November 2023, presiding in the family division of the court.  As a candidate, he was rated by the Montgomery Bar Association as being “highly recommended” to serve as a judge - the highest recommendation available. To receive this rating, at least 80% of the Montgomery Bar autonomous judiciary committee determined that Ronca possessed superior qualifications to serve with distinction as a judge, including “an exceptional level of integrity, good moral character, industry, legal ability and experience, courtroom experience, humility, and judicial temperament.”

Before taking the bench, Ronca practiced law for 37 years and was a family law attorney with firms of various sizes, including a firm he helped found; Sattin, Ronca and Cornelison, where he practiced for 15 years.  During that time, he also served as a family mediator, arbitrator, and parenting coordinator.

Ronca attended Penn State University, where he graduated with honors, and then Temple University School of Law, where he graduated as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society in 1986.  After law school, he entered the practice of law as an assistant district attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office in New York City.  He then practiced as a civil litigator for 10 years, first with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General and, later, with the Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company.

Ronca has served in various capacities in the Montgomery Bar Association, including as an Executive Board member, Family Section Chair, and Sidebar Magazine Chair.

Paola ToroPaola Toro '10

A graduate of the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, Paola Toro is a passionate advocate for the environment and communities. With a background in environmental law and policy, Ms. Toro has made significant contributions throughout her career. As an intern at the United Nations, she worked on critical issues such as human rights, nuclear non-proliferation, and the Paris Climate Agreement. She also gained experience at the New York State Division of Human Rights, where she focused on anti-discrimination programs and fostering positive inter-group relationships.

Her commitment to environmental causes led her to the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, where she fought for water quality improvement, protection of endangered species, and climate change advocacy. Ms. Toro has also served as a representative for local governments in New Jersey on various environmental matters at the law firm of Maraziti Falcon. Currently, Ms. Toro works at Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. where she represents Fortune 500 companies on environmental matters across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Ms. Toro’s dedication and accomplishments have earned her recognition, including being named a "Rising Star" in Environmental Law by Super Lawyers, an honor reserved for the top 2.5% of attorneys under 40 or with less than 10 years of practice.

Wissahickon celebrates Ms. Toro’s integrity, empathy, and commitment to leaving a better world for future generations.
