Wiss Link: We're Here When You Need Us

To ease the transition from middle to high school, our Wiss Link leaders are here to assist!

What Every Freshman Needs to Know

  1. Get involved. Join clubs that interest you.
  2. Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone—high school is a time to try new things and meet new people. Put yourself out there and go to school events!
  3. Download the Infinite Campus & Schoology apps on your phone.
  4. Talk to your Wiss Link Leaders, teachers, guidance counselor and older friends – they’re friendly and full of information!!
  5. Use freshman year to learn how to do well. Don’t get too stressed-out, but take it seriously because it will help you in later years. The grades that you earn this year are a building block for years to come! Start on a good note!
  6. It’s okay to get lost! (People will help you, so ask.)
  7. Don’t base your opinions of teachers on what others tell you (form your own).
  8. Prioritize mental health!!!
  9. Take advantage of academic supports that are available (MathLab, ELT, STARS peer tutoring, Office Hours, etc.)
  10. Teachers are helpful when you communicate with them!!
  11. Let us (Link Crew) and your teachers know if you’re having issues. Remember, we're here when you need us!
  12. Come to Freshmen Orientation! It’s Friday, August 22 from 8-12 in the High School circle gym. It will be a good time!

Freshman Orientation: August 22

All 9th graders are invited to attend Freshmen Orientation hosted by Wiss Link on Friday, August 22 from 8 am -11:45am. Students participate in games, tour and school and learn about school expectations and resources. It's a great event to familiarize yourself with the high school and make some new friends.
