Wiss Link: We're Here When You Need Us
To ease the transition from middle to high school, our Wiss Link leaders are here to assist!
What Every Freshman Needs to Know
- Get involved. Join clubs that interest you.
- Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone—high school is a time to try new things and meet new people. Put yourself out there and go to school events!
- Download the Infinite Campus & Schoology apps on your phone.
- Talk to your Wiss Link Leaders, teachers, guidance counselor and older friends – they’re friendly and full of information!!
- Use freshman year to learn how to do well. Don’t get too stressed-out, but take it seriously because it will help you in later years. The grades that you earn this year are a building block for years to come! Start on a good note!
- It’s okay to get lost! (People will help you, so ask.)
- Don’t base your opinions of teachers on what others tell you (form your own).
- Prioritize mental health!!!
- Take advantage of academic supports that are available (MathLab, ELT, STARS peer tutoring, Office Hours, etc.)
- Teachers are helpful when you communicate with them!!
- Let us (Link Crew) and your teachers know if you’re having issues. Remember, we're here when you need us!
- Come to Freshmen Orientation! It’s Friday, August 22 from 8-12 in the High School circle gym. It will be a good time!
Freshman Orientation: August 22
All 9th graders are invited to attend Freshmen Orientation hosted by Wiss Link on Friday, August 22 from 8 am -11:45am. Students participate in games, tour and school and learn about school expectations and resources. It's a great event to familiarize yourself with the high school and make some new friends.
